Editor,
In the "Student claims discrimination" article, published Oct. 15, the Lobo reported that an Albuquerque bar denied entry to a UNM senior because she was pregnant. The Lobo reporter misquoted me about the possible legal duties of a public drinking establishment.
Apparently, this is not the first time that a Lobo reporter has misused quotation marks and incorrectly attributed a verbatim quotation to a speaker.
I did not provide an opinion, I told the reporter that I do not teach in the area of discrimination law and I gave the reporter the names and telephone numbers of two colleagues who do have such expertise.
It is unfortunate that your reporter preferred to misuse quotation marks and mischaracterize the words of a background source, rather than speak to an expert in the relevant field of law.
