Editor,
The ACLU accuses McKay of using his job to spread religion? Well, good for him. It is about time a Christian is willing to stand up for his faith, no matter what the consequences are. I stand behind McKay 110 percent.
He knows what it means to truly be a Christian. He knows the definition of Christianity. As I recall, Jesus never told us to go into all the world and preach the gospel except when it interferes with your job or with an implied separation of church and state. No, instead he tells us to go into the world and make "disciples of all nations." No exceptions for any situation.
But that is not even the issue I want to address. The real issue is that even though McKay has said he is a Christian, like many people do, he is actually living the lifestyle. His faith speaks through his actions, not his words. What an awesome man.
I don't see how anyone can claim this man is doing wrong when all he truly wants to do is make sure his team succeeds in a greater game - the game of life. He cares about them and the choices they make, and that makes him a bad guy? No, McKay has done nothing that he should be ashamed of. In fact, he should be proud.
He is an inspiration to all in showing that Christianity is more than just a label - it is a lifestyle. And if caring about the success of his team is a crime, in that he is using religion, well then I guess the ACLU is right. McKay is guilty of being a Christian. Plain and simple. And honestly, we need more people, more Christians, willing to step up and be just that in their classrooms, in their workplaces, in this country and in this world.
Maybe that's the true secret to making this world a better place. Christians being Christians.
I support you, Coach McKay. Keep on fighting the good fight - rewards are in heaven.
