The Lobos were coming off a tough loss to No. 25-ranked Oklahoma. This time it was the other way around. UNM trailed Texas 35-32 at halftime, but played much stronger in the second half.
A big reason for the turnaround was the shooting percentage. In the first half, UNM shot a lowly 30 percent from the field.
The team was much more proficient in the second half, shooting 61 percent. UNM had a solid game defensively, holding the Texas offense to 35 percent shooting from the field.
It was a rare home loss for Texas, who fell to 0-1. The Longhorns were 44-1 in their previous 45 home games.
