Editor,
I would like to commend our U.S. senators - including our own representatives Pete Domenici and Jeff Bingaman, among many others - for finally putting the pressure on the oil company executives.
These price drops are just in time for ski season, and coincidentally around the same time of several indictments, charges of corruption and CIA leak investigations. In case you were wondering about the dramatic drop in gas prices in the recent weeks, I believe I saw a station that had gas at $2.35 per gallon, and this just so happens to fall around the same time of their hearings in Congress - eerily familiar to the 1994 tobacco executive hearings.
I think that with the oil executives record-breaking profits - with some CEO's topping off their annual salaries of over $3 million - the very least they could do is be honest with the American people. After all, we are fighting a war for them.
