Robyn Miller said she knows the UNM swimming and diving team needs her to perform well.

She did just that, winning two of her three events Friday and Saturday at the Lobo Invitational.

"I feel like I have to live up to - not a standard - but people expect a performance from me," she said.

Miller wasn't the only winning Lobo in the water.

Sophomore Carrie Quinn once again brought home two first-place finishes in the 3-meter board and the 1-meter board with scores of 414.40 and 249.70, respectively.

The two first-place finishes kept Quinn undefeated at home.

The Lobos finished third behind Colorado State and Northern Arizona.

Standing behind Quinn was a glimpse of the Lobos' past diving success. There, watching her old team was former Lobo All-American Becca Barras, who now dives for the Canadian National Team.

"I look up to her so much," Quinn said about Barras. "I'll never probably be able to fill her shoes because they're so big, but I definitely want to earn my own name."

So far that is exactly what Quinn has been doing with the help of Barras and former Olympian Abel Sanchez as her coach.

Barras tries to practice regularly with UNM's diving team, and Quinn is taking it all in while she can.

"I love it, because when I practice with her, I watch her, and we want to be as good as her," Quinn said. "She is always determined, and when she can't come to practice I don't have that good of a workout because she's not there."

Miller and Quinn were a big part of the Lobos' meet, as they scored a combined 164 points out of the team's 897.50.

Miller also contributed to a first-place finish in the 400-meter freestyle relay with the help of teammates Kelsey Leckovic, Kelly Soldow and Tori Clarridge who swam to a collective time of 3:34.67. With a time of 8:00.28, Soldow, Clarridge, Miller and Andrea Zarins were able to take third place in the 800-meter freestyle relay.

Head coach Tracy Ljone said she was pleased with the team's performance over the two-day meet.

"They've done everything the coaches have asked of them," she said.

Within a two-day meet and a dual meet with Colorado State, the Lobos had a lot of opportunities to succeed.

"It's a good chance for the girls to swim up to nine events," Lione said. "It's a good test of their endurance."
