paseo del norte extension

my name is patrick abeita,505 573 0406, im a utility plant tech for ford utilities here on campus. Im also a quarter native american (specifically isleta pueblo). I read the daily lobo almost everyday, and while flippin through november 23rd's issue i came across the section were the lobo asks people a question then records their responses with a picture of them next to it. usually when i read something in the daily lobo that i disagree with, i can ignore it, let it go, and move on with the rest of my day. but when i read what was stated by jacquelin romero, a junior majoring in dance, i was appalled by how insensitive her comments were toward the petroglyph national monument. for a university educated person to reduce a proud group of native americans such as the pueblo people of new mexico, to just some "people that went up there and drew stuff" is ridiculus and ignorant. the petroglyph national monument is a holy and historical site for the pueblo people of new mexico. if the paseo del norte extension was not included in the bill to repair albuquerque's steets last election, we would not be in this situation. if this were a catholic holy site on the mesa, or an old christian cemetary up their, their would be no question as to whether they would build a road through it: it would never happen, but because the site is native american, no one cares. Its bad enough native americans are so poorely represented and portrayed in society, but it bothers me when someone who is supposed to be educated, reduces us to some people who made some drawings on a mesa.
