The UNM men's basketball team continued to struggle on the road Saturday, losing at Wyoming 77-70.
With the loss, the Lobos drop to 11-6 overall and 2-2 in the Mountain West Conference. Wyoming improved to 10-7 overall, 3-1 in the MWC. All six of the UNM losses this season have been on the road. The Lobos have lost nine straight games in Wyoming. Their last win was in 1995.
UNM started the game fast, grabbing a 10-3 lead early. After a 9-0 run late in the first half, the Lobos led 33-27 at halftime. Wyoming came out hot in the second half, outscoring the Lobos 11-4 in the opening minutes to take the lead.
New Mexico made some runs and took a 56-55 lead with 6:59 left in the game. That would be the last time the Lobos held the lead in the game as Wyoming outplayed them down the stretch. The Lobos went on a small run to pull within five points with 50 seconds remaining, but they were unable to pull off the comeback.

UNM hurt itself with poor free-throw shooting, only making 9-of-19 in the game. Coming into the game, the Lobos averaged 69 percent from the free-throw line, compared to 47 percent against Wyoming. They also shot 28 percent from the three-point line, going 5-of-18.
UNM's Mark Walters was the game's high scorer with 26 points. Senior David Chiotti added 19 for the Lobos. Walters and Chiotti both passed the 1,000-point career mark, the first time two UNM players did so in the same game.
Brandan Ewing led Wyoming with 23 points. Steve Leven added 16, and Justin Williams added 10.
