With their hard rocking sound, Southern redneck attitude and perhaps the most gloriously vulgar name in music, Nashville Pussy, hands down, wins the competition for pure rock 'n' roll madness. On Wednesday, Nashville Pussy will play at the Launchpad. The band is touring in support of its fourth album, Get Some, an album which sounds much like what you'd expect from a band whose Web site describes its sound as "AC/DC making out with Motorhead while Lynyrd Skynyrd watches." Dressing like the Southern rock gods they are, the four members of Nashville Pussy look like they could easily fi t into an episode of "Scooby-Doo" as the guest band that helps the kids solve mysteries. The band is led by Blaine Cartwright, the lead singer with a mullet and handlebar moustache, and his buxom blonde bombshell rocker grrl wife, Ruyter Suys (pronounced Rider Sighs), on lead guitar. "We were married actually for four years before the band started," Suys said. "He was in a band called Nine Pound Hammer, and they used to play up in Canada quite a bit. We met, started dating, got married and moved to Nashville together. Nine Pound Hammer had this giant North American tour and then afterwards broke up for a while. We asked ourselves, 'Well, what do we do now?'" Out of the ashes of Nine Pound Hammer, Nashville Pussy was born. "We took the drummer from Nine Pound Hammer (Jeremy Thompson,) found a bass player and hit the road after six months," she said. "I don't think we could have it any other way. We'd like to say we're the only ones getting laid in the band."

Rounding out the quartet is new bass player Karen Cuda. "Karen absolutely kicks ass," Suys said. "I don't think you could create someone more perfect for this job. She's a smoking bass player and we're letting her do what she's been training her whole life to do. And, she's sexy." Known for its hard rockin' antics, Nashville Pussy lays it all out on the line. The band's songs are sexually charged, dealing with everything from long afternoons of being stoned and drinking whiskey, to getting laid, to getting laid while being stoned and drinking whiskey. "I guess it's kind of like a classic rock show for today," Suys said. "They're sweaty and rockin' and with no pretense. They're a time to cut loose. We're trying to revive the feeling onstage of what we all had when we were in high school in the backseat of a car. It's like the fi rst time you saw Motorhead. We're trying to revive that spirit in a way." Be it the band's crazy live shows or its hard rock albums, Nashville Pussy is keeping the spirit of true rock 'n' roll alive in a most glorious dirty Southern way.
