DL: What is the hardest part of the job?

PH: I think the most difficult part of my job is keeping a balance between what the donor wants and what the institution needs - it's a juggling game.

DL: What do you like about UNM?

PH: I love the diversity. I love its entrepreneurial spirit. UNM has tremendous reach.

DL: What would you like to see changed about UNM?

PH: I'd like to see what we do in fundraising to enhance UNM long after we're gone from here.

DL: What position in the past has best prepared you for your role now?

PH: It was actually not when I was a fundraiser. I think the position as the senior manager at a financial company taught me how to manage at UNM.

DL: How does your experience make you a better qualified candidate?

PH: The combination of my longevity at UNM, my field experience, my knowledge of the giving community - it gave me a good match for now.
