Mikan doesn't like to spend more than $15 when she goes shopping. As a Pilates instructor, she keeps her style casual. The most extravagant item she owns is a Jade bracelet given to her by a Tibetan monk. The bracelet is worth about $45. The rest of her bracelets are priceless. Over the years, Mikan and her best friend acquired matching sets, and each bracelet has its own meaning.

It doesn't cost much for Rutkaus to live large. His iPhone - which he said is practically an accessory - was a graduation present from a team of relatives. He hit up Chinatown, N.Y., for his Vacheron Constantin replica watch. When he's in Albuquerque, he shops at Buffalo Exchange.
