DL: What age do you want to teach?
ES: Work with children with disabilities and low-income families.
DL: Where do you want to do that?
ES: Probably here in Albuquerque, since it is so diverse. I mean, there is one end of the scale and the other- - either really rich or really poor.
DL: What interested you in working with disabled or low-income students?
ES: Because there's not a lot of opportunities in terms of community art, and basically, to be in the arts you need a lot of money, and I don't think that's true or fair. I don't have any money either.
DL: What do you like to do around campus?
ES: There is not really much to do around campus unless you are involved in programs.
DL: What do you like to do in your spare time?
ES: I like to go hiking, hang outside, stuff like that. When it's not too hot like today.
DL: Is that a plus to being here in New Mexico? You can be in the city and then just get out of town to the mountains?
ES: That's what I love about Albuquerque. It's right in the mountains, but you can do anything you want in the city.
DL: Where do you like to go hiking?
ES: Just in the Sandias or in the Jemez or where my parents live out in the reservation.
DL: Did you consider doing work on the reservation?
ES: I've thought about it. It's another option. It depends on if I can get a job out there. That's the tough part.
DL: Is it difficult to get a job on the reservation?
ES: It is a little bit. It depends on what you do. There is not a lot of call for art people. So, once they get an art person, they stay there for a long time.
DL: So, once you are in the art program you are there until you retire?
ES: Yeah that's kind of how it goes.
DL: Is there anywhere else that you would want to live besides here?
ES: Alaska.
DL: What interests you about Alaska?
ES: I've never been there, and I like to travel.
DL: Do you do a lot of traveling?
ES: When I can afford it. Last summer I was in Rome, and that was a lot of fun.
DL: What did you do while there?
ES: Studying art, art history, applying language - which I promptly forgot having not used it at all.
DL: So, the whole being immersed in it and you won't forget thing didn't apply to you?
ES: No. I think you are supposed to practice it.
