The Daily Lobo asks you:

Should the University have more control over fraternities?

Matthew Bollinger

Graduate Student

Architecture

I think they should have a little more control over what is going on. I think it is the responsibility of the University to know what is going on on campus. Any organizations that are related to the University are liable.

I think that they should be more actively involved, otherwise things wouldn't have escalated as they have. I think it's obvious that they need more help.

Jessica Johnson

Biology

Definitely. There are adult chaperones for the fraternities, and they are alumni. As the alumni, they should monitor what the fraternity is doing. I think all this happened because someone wasn't paying attention. The fraternities are a branch of the University, so they should watch what they do.

Emily Strongin

Freshman

Pre med

I think the fraternities should stay involved with the school. But I'm in a sorority, and I also think it's cool to be in your own little community without having to interact too much. So, no.

Riley Wilson

Graduate student

Accounting

I think they should because they represent the University as a whole. People who might want to come here might see that and go somewhere else. I think they should control more and set some standards and regulations.

Douglas Wozniak

Electrical engineering

No. They should have more control to do what they want to. Fraternities are an off-campus, outside-of-school work activity.
