Man accused of robbery commits suicide in jail
ALAMOGORDO (AP) - Authorities say a 32-year-old man accused of robbing an Alamogordo sandwich shop has hanged himself in the Otero County jail. Lathan Anden Lee was found dead Tuesday, but authorities did not release details.

WASHINGTON (AP) - A missile launched from a Navy cruiser soared 130 miles above the Pacific and smashed a U.S. spy satellite Wednesday, the Pentagon said. Defense officials said it apparently achieved the goal of destroying an onboard tank of toxic fuel.

LONDON (AP) - The former head of MI6 denied Wednesday that the British intelligence agency was responsible for the car accident that killed Princess Diana and her boyfriend, Dodi al Fayed, in 1997. Sir Richard Dearlove, who was the director of special operations for the agency at the time of Diana's accident, testified at the inquest into the pair's death.
