Editor,
We seem to have shot ourselves in the foot by demanding a campus food service other than Aramark. The MarketPlace, formerly the healthiest shop in the SUB, has vanished in the interest of making room for Mondo Subs. The previous sandwich shop offered various types of bread, vegetables and condiments, allowing students a wide variety in sandwich-making options. The new shop has a
certain menu, which the workers cannot deviate from. In other words, the sandwiches come as they are. We, the customers, have no choice in the matter. No extra olives. No BLT wraps. If it's not on the menu, the workers refuse to make it. The healthy, scrumptious alternative to Sonic and Chick-fil-A has disappeared, leaving us with a sub shop as generic as McDonald's. If The MarketPlace was an Aramark business, then let Aramark return.
