I want to thank UNM Parking and Transportation Services for its effort in obtaining free ABQ Ride bus passes for staff and faculty.
On Oct. 16, 2007, the Staff Council passed a resolution asking the administration to work with the city to extend the free bus rides that were already in place for students to staff and faculty. This resolution was forwarded to President David Schmidly and Clovis Acosta of UNM Parking and Transportation and taken to the president's Executive Cabinet last November for vetting. After 11 months, the availability of free bus passes has finally come to fruition.
Again, thank you PATS for your persistence and determination to make this valuable resource available to the campus community. I urge staff and faculty to take advantage of ABQ Ride. Together we can lessen the traffic and parking issues that are so prevalent on campus as well as help the environment.
