Since creationism isn't science, leave it out of the classroom

Editor,

In response to "Evolution, creationism should be taught hand-in-hand," I say, yes, evolution is a theory. It is a theory because it has withstood the principles of the scientific method since its inception by Charles Darwin and others in the mid-19th century.

Just because it is a theory does not mean it is not a fact. Just as gravity is a theory, it is also a fact. Evolution is a fact, and there are strong data to prove it. Researchers are continually generating new data adding to the complexity of evolution and, therefore, it's labeled as a theory.

Creationism is based on faith, not science. We cannot apply the principles of the scientific method to creationism because there is no scientific evidence to support it. Creationism should not be taught "hand-in-hand" with evolution because it is not science.
