Ever since the decision was made to allow the presidential nominee to pick a running mate, it has been a point of strategy to decide who would best fill out each party's ticket. With the politics of running mates and every other detail of a campaign under great scrutiny, it is more important than ever to make every detail perfect.
Barack Obama made his perfect choice with Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware. The Democratic presidential nominee is confident that Biden's immense experience, charisma and no-nonsense qualities will carry them to the White House come Nov. 4.
Biden has been in politics for many years. To put it in perspective, he has been helping run this country since Sarah Palin was 8 years old. His experience is hard to match by any politician. He has been on the Foreign Relations Committee and is now its chairman. He was the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, helping with the issues of drug policies, civil liberties and crime prevention. He helped create the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act and the Violence Against Women Act. He has helped in the Yugoslav Wars and now in the Iraq War, lending the United States his experience and wisdom through the Foreign Relations Committee.
He is a moderately liberal man who takes into consideration all options before he makes a decision. He takes a conservative stance seldom, though he does vote on that inclination. He has run for president twice in his life. The first time in the 1980s seemed to be disastrous, and accusations of fraud and plagiarism were put to bed soon after he was accused, which killed his campaign. He tried once again for this election, but he just was not a powerful enough candidate to contend with Obama and Hillary Clinton. His failure can also be attributed to his inability to not shoot off his mouth. But that is part of his charm.
Biden has made a number of statements about his opponents, which end up helping him, for the most part. He evens out Obama because he will make attacks on John McCain when Obama hesitates. He can strike at McCain with blunt and true statements while never tarnishing the image of his running mate. He has a reputation for not only shooting his mouth off but for impressive speeches and fundraising ability. In his presidential run in the 1980s, he raised almost $2 million in the first quarter of 1987. He set a record for the speed of fundraising. Coupled with Obama's impressive amounts of tact, charisma and fundraising ability, they will probably set a new record this quarter. He takes his campaigns on with every ounce of effort he can muster, leaving nothing behind and regretting nothing.
He is spurred on to do what he does in Congress by the thought of his first wife and little daughter's untimely death and the injury of his two sons. He has sworn himself to defend America his way to their memory. It sounds like the plotline of a superhero's origin story, but that only adds to the honorable image of this politician. When he was first sworn into office, it was at the bedside of one of his sons. He even chooses to not work every Dec. 18 in reverence for his fallen family.

He will be able to do the most good as the vice president of the United States, helping Obama keep every campaign promise and accomplish every mission they have set out to do. From a tactical aspect, the choice to make Biden Obama's running mate is a superb one. There is no one better qualified to do the job, and he complements Obama in spades. Both candidates are powerful orators and charismatic, and they put their whole selves into their political works, and if they are unable to get elected, they will have no regrets about it either. Biden is the best VP choice for any candidate.
