After two wins last week, the UNM softball team dropped both games of Saturday's doubleheader against Eastern New Mexico University, 9-8 and 16-8.
Head coach Ty Singleton said the Lobos needed to come out like they did last week in wins against West Texas A&M.
"We needed to make sure we get pitches to drive, and drive it," he said. "We were more careful this week than we were last week. We weren't in an aggressive mind-set, and we need to have that aggressive mind-set all the time."
After the first two innings, the Lobos were up 4-3. They added four runs in the fourth and led 8-4.
However, ENMU's defense tightened up, and the Lobos were held scoreless for the rest of the game, while the Zias scored the last five runs.
Infielder Janet Rendon was one of the most successful at the plate, going 2-for-2 and drawing two walks, but the defense couldn't hold up.

"We just lost our focus for a bit," Rendon said.
The second game was less exciting for Lobo fans, as UNM had an abysmal second inning. Three pitchers gave up 11 hits, three walks and 14 runs.
"When the pitching is struggling, it's important that your defense makes every play," Singleton said. "We had a chance to make some plays and get us out of the innings, but we made a few tentative mistakes."
The Lobos tried to make a late rally, scoring six runs in the bottom of the fifth, but it was a case of too little, too late.
"We just need to keep pushing hard and never give up," Rendon said.
