Editor,
I have been reading the Daily Lobo's Opinion page for 15 years and have always looked forward to reading the editorials and letters to the editor.
Correct me if I am wrong, but the editors of the Daily Lobo have not written a single editorial this semester about the election, the wars or the economic collapse. Not a word about the sick and disgusting hypocrisy of the UNM administration during this economic crisis and their priorities in remodeling The Pit.
There is no liberal or conservative bias in speaking honest truth to corrupt power. Before the POTUS election, in order to be fair and balanced, the Daily Lobo published fallacious letters about Barack Obama's radical associations with Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Ever since Obama's historic election, the Daily Lobo has been deluged daily with inane letters written by bitter Republican men about abortion.
With all due respect, Americans have some really serious problems, and abortion is not one of them. I am abortion-rights and pro-freedom. I am not a Republican or Democrat; I'm a born-again American. I voted for a change. Obama never campaigned on ideology; Obama campaigned on competence. That is the change.
I pity what President Bush and his appeasers have done to this great nation. These religious extremists are suffering terribly from the cognitive dissonance. They cling to their gods and guns. They believe Bush liberated 50 million people. They believe Earth was created 6,000 years ago. They believe Obama is Muslim. These Americans need to take some responsibility for the epic failures of Bush. Bush blamed Sept 11. on President Clinton because he failed to get Osama bin Laden. It has been 2,641 days since Bush said he'd catch Bin Laden, dead or alive. Iraq has improved, but we should have never occupied it in the first place. Most Republicans actually believe Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and was involved in the Sept. 11 attacks. There was no threat from Saddam Hussein's secular regime, no weapons of mass destruction, no ties to Sept. 11. After Bush cut and ran in Afghanistan, al-Qaida is resurgent in Pakistan. What happened to the Bush Doctrine? Bush blamed the human disaster after Hurricane Katrina on the local officials. Bush blames the housing, credit and financial collapse on Clinton. Anyone recall Bush's ownership society where everyone would own a house?

The Army is broken, the treasury looted, the Constitution trashed, and the U.S. government is totally bankrupt. I pray for President-Elect Obama and his family and their safety. This nation has come so far from the police violence in Grant Park Chicago 1968 to Grant Park Chicago on Election Night 2008.
