Head coach Don Flanagan of the UNM women's basketball team was hoping the Lobos could win 17 games in the 2008-09 campaign.
Eighteen games into the season, the Lobos have 15.
"I thought it would be disappointing if we didn't win 17," Flanagan said. "We haven't got there yet - so I better stop right there. Right now, we are doing pretty well heading toward a 17-win season."
The Lobos will look to reach win No. 16 tonight against the Colorado State Rams in Fort Collins, Colo.
First-year head coach Kristen Holt has the program back in the right direction for CSU. The Rams have already won two conference games this season after posting a 0-16 record last season in MWC play.
"Our conference is so tough, and Colorado State is a good team," Lobo guard Amy Beggin said. "We are going to have to go up to Colorado and play well."

Beggin has been playing a lot of tough minutes in recent games.
"I think we have several players that are not playing the way they are capable of playing," Flanagan said. "I think they can get some of the scoring load and help Amy out, and they are going to have to because everybody is going to chase her all over the court."
But on Sunday, Beggin got some help against TCU.
Georonika Jackson was averaging about eight minutes a game, but against TCU she played 20 and lit up the Horned Frogs. Jackson led all Lobos with 23 points and hit 6-of-9 from 3-point land.
While Beggin welcomes the help, she said she is used to playing a lot of minutes.
"I don't get really tired out there. I mean, you just play on adrenaline," Beggin said. "You don't really focus on getting tired. The other team gets tired, especially when they come to The Pit. That is the times you just need to take advantage of your opponent and go at them."
Beggin is averaging 15.3 points and four assists per game this season.
The fact that she plays with so much emotion has helped the Lobos on the glass. Beggin is averaging 5.2 boards a game.
A win against CSU would put Flanagan one victory away from 300 during his tenure at UNM.
Flanagan said the accomplishment would mean he's a seasoned coach.
"It would mean I have been around a long time," Flanagan chuckled. "I hadn't thought about it until sometime somebody brought it up this summer. I would like to get to 300. Obviously, it's nice."
