As luck would have it, on the day that the Daily Lobo published my letter criticizing University administration for expanding at the expense of academics, President David Schmidly announced changes that addressed my concerns.
Having been free to offer criticism, it is now incumbent on me to acknowledge a step in the right direction. While I would prefer a more substantial change, this shift of funding from administration to academics is definitely welcome. I hope that it represents the beginning of continued re-evaluation of the University's priorities.
