President David Schmidly is focused on all the wrong things. He wants to cut and move Student Services and force smoking off campus.
UNM is a university, and student education has been put low on Schmidly's list. I want everyone to visit Scholes Hall. Use the amazing bathrooms with tons of stalls and amazing floors. Then visit the dorms that are over-crowded and in great need of repair and updating.
And a note to the Smoke Free Environment Committee: Please get some bigger problems in your life. Is your biggest problem really that you had to endure 30 seconds of smoke on your way to class? Try being gay and wanting to marry your partner or having your daughter murdered and not have justice. The smoking ban on North Campus does not work; people smoke right under "no smoking" signs, and the same will happen here. Fight, instead, for more freedoms, not less. And let's all blow our smoke at Schmidly so he can have something to spend his huge salary on.
