Staff Report
New Mexico Indymedia, a local show that focuses on current affairs and community issues, will host a live, hour-long forum to discuss issues the UNM community faces.
The show will air at 7 p.m. today on Community Cable Channel, which is channel 27 on Comcast.
Producer Allen Cooper said the show will address the crisis of confidence, which has touched faculty, staff and students. It will also look into the pay of UNM's upper administration and the future of UNM's ethnic programs.
Cooper said he considers UNM the focal point of the Albuquerque community.
"I want the University to be all it can be and not by becoming like a corporate entity instead of a university of higher learning," Cooper said. "It appears to me like it's losing its focus badly."

Loyola Chastain, president of the Staff Council; Terry Mulcahy, president of the Staff Union; and Bob Anderson, CNM history professor, are scheduled to speak during the forum.
Cooper said students are invited to come to the show and participate by asking questions.
Cooper said he left messages for President David Schmidly and Executive Vice President David Harris but did not receive a return call from either administrator.
"I've been calling staff members to try to get people to come on (the show)," Cooper said. "Staff and professors have been universally interested and supportive of the forum but afraid for their jobs and of reprisals."
Cooper said the show's studio, at 415 Tijeras Ave. N.W., can accommodate 50 to 60 people. Those who cannot make the trip to the studio can call 346-1633 to have their questions aired.
"We probably won't have call-ins the whole time, but we'll probably have a segment of the show around the middle part, like from 7:30 p.m. to 7:40 p.m., something like that, and we'll ask the callers to be real brief, because there's a lot of stuff to go through," Cooper said.
