Editor,
According to an article in The Guardian, Barack Obama's inauguration is estimated to have cost $150 million. It's certainly the most expensive inauguration in American history. I understand that this was a historic event because Obama is the first black man to occupy the White House, but was it truly necessary to spend this much money during this severe economic crisis?
Also, it seems to me that the new $819 billion bailout package is an incredible amount of wasteful government spending, since the previous $700 billion bailout package that we heard about a few months ago was supposed to rescue our economy from going into a recession. Whatever happened to that previous bailout package? Where did all that money go? Was it used to resuscitate the real estate market?
I have yet to see the so-called change that all of you Obama voters so passionately supported a few months prior to this presidential election. If this change includes more wasteful government spending, then the American people elected the wrong person into the White House.
