Question of the Week

Do you think the faculty's petition is justified?

Sean Wynne

Senior

American and Asian Studies

"Yes, because I think that the regents and the president need to answer to the criticisms and the allegations that have been put forth. I think they have the duty to do that. I was disappointed initially to see that that one dude (Regents President Jamie Koch) didn't want to go, and I thought it was kind of weak that he decided to go anyway."

Jacob Klink

Senior

History

"I think something needs to be done, or at least awareness needs to be drawn. I understand a lot of budgeting you have to use in particular ways, but in a time like now, where some departments don't have enough to pay for syllabi, and we're spending, what, $60 million on renovating a sports stadium to gain extra notoriety is a joke. One of my professors, I won't mention his name, coined the term 'Shmidiot.'"

Robert Faithe

Senior

Marketing

"I think it's a good thing that the UNM faculty is being proactive about the interaction with a high-level position like his. It gives me faith as a student that UNM has the ability to interact with it properly."

Samantha Contreras

Sophomore

Art Studio

"I don't really like the budget cuts. I read the article you guys had today about the International Program. I think that's unnecessary. Other than that, I haven't had much of an issue. But, I think that will really hinder students' ability to see what else is out there."
