GPSA has chosen to side with the faculty by voting to support the five motions passed at last week's meeting.
In a council meeting Tuesday, GPSA members resolved to support the faculty's initiatives.
"We want to support this and put strength behind it," said Becky Ellis, UNM graduate student.
GPSA decided to put this and four other motions on the GPSA ballot in their upcoming election in May so that all graduate students can weigh in on them.
The first motion the GPSA voted on was to support the faculty on its Feb. 25 resolutions to request a state audit and change the University's organizational structure. The motion was approved by the council in a vote of eight in favor and none opposed, with one abstention.
GPSA considered no-confidence votes in Regents President Jamie Koch, Executive Vice President David Harris and President David Schmidly and passed only the motion concerning Koch.

No-confidence votes in Schmidly and Harris were more contentious and were postponed for a later meeting.
However, many felt it urgent to vote on the motion of no confidence in Koch.
"Jamie Koch is coming up for reconfirmation, and if we do not pass this motion today . GPSA representatives will only be able to say their personal position, without the weight of GPSA council," said Danny Hernandez, GPSA member.
GPSA council members said they want to present a public statement when Koch appears before the Legislature for his appointment hearing.
But some members argued that problems in the University's management go beyond personnel.
"If we want to extrapolate one person from the system and try to hang him or her, let's be mindful of what we are doing," said Tarance LeNoir, GPSA council member.
LeNoir went on to argue that the administrative problems are systematic issues that have been going on for years.
Lucinda Grinnell, GPSA council member, said graduate students should oppose Koch because he does not have students' best interests at heart.
"His actions have spoken for themselves," she said. "I do not understand why any graduate student would vote in favor of keeping Jamie Koch here. He has stood against academics time and time again, and we are graduate students. He does not stand with us. Why would we vote for him to stay?"
