Crime Briefs

April 8-10

Three cars were keyed on campus this week. Two were in the UNMH parking structure; the other was in the Redondo Village parking lot, east of the police station.

April 8

A UNM Police officer was dispatched to Sigma Chi N.E. in response to a vehicle fire, which UNMPD ruled to be arson. The owner of the car said she was awakened at 5:30 a.m. by an NROTC company. The NROTC members were on their morning run when they noticed the fire and retrieved fire extinguishers to put it out. Once it was out, the group returned to its routine.

April 10

A student in a car approached an officer to ask for directions. While giving directions, the officer noticed plastic bags containing a green leafy substance on the passenger seat of the student's car. The officer stopped the student and recovered two bags of marijuana. The student said he was delivering the bags to another student on campus. He was arrested and booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center.
