Daily Lobo Staff Report
Representatives of the CIA will be at UNM today to pique student interest in job opportunities with the organization.
Inspire Anderson Marketing (IAM), a student-run marketing agency at UNM's Anderson School of Management, is hosting the event.
UNM is one of three universities in the country that the CIA plans to visit. The University of Southern California and Michigan State University are also on the list.
"We were lucky we were selected as three of the universities to participate," said Chris Hodge, spokesman for IAM.
Two hour-long sessions will be open to students in Lobo Room B in the SUB. The first is at 11 a.m. and the second is at 2 p.m.

Hodge said the CIA representatives will answer questions from the crowd, dispel myths and inform students of CIA recruitment requirements. It may not be a platform for recruitment, but it could be a jumping-off point for potential candidates, he said.
"They can't technically recruit in the open arena, but this is the stage that kind of sets to get them to the recruitment," Hodge said. "So, it's kind of an intermediary between being recruited and just supplying information."
Hodge said the point of the event is to educate the public.
"Our primary focus is to dispel myths that people attach to the CIA, and, granted, there is good and there is bad - in any job you find the good and the bad," Hodge said.
Hodge said students qualified to join the CIA might be surprised by the opportunities available.
"They're looking for candidates across all educational backgrounds," Hodge said. "They're talking about science, engineering and business (majors).. They have tech jobs, information technology jobs, language-skill jobs. You don't even have to know the language before you go. As long as you have the will and the want and the desire to learn, they'll teach you those things."
