Daily Lobo Spotlight

Eric "Red" Schreiber / Senior / Education

Daily Lobo: Did you rip those pants yourself?

Eric Schreiber: Yes. Eight dollars at the store. It was a Halloween outfit, but they were just way too comfortable.

DL: What were you for Halloween?

ES: Not sure exactly. I just put stuff together, like, ripped some clothes apart. I had this really cool paintball mask that I modified with nails and chains and a bunch of, like, fake blood splattered everywhere.

DL: Did you rip your pants with any particular method?

ES: You just use a knife and sort of attack it. There was no methodology to it - not on any of the pairs of pants I wear, really. It used to be that I would do it back in high school because my knee was all screwed up, so I would have to find a way to put a brace on underneath.. I always had this knee torn open. It just kind of stayed there.

DL: So all your other pants are similarly ripped?

ES: Pretty much. I have a good pair of jeans and a good pair of slacks and all, but they're not what I usually wear.

DL: So if there were a formal banquet or something.

ES: Oh yeah. I'll put on a suit. I love it. (laughs) Any excuse to dress up to the nines is totally worth it.

DL: What other hobbies do you have?

ES: I've been doing a band here for every year I've been here, my own local group, playing bass.

DL: What kind of music?

ES: Kind of more of a metal, industrial feel. It's coming along. It's been sort of a process, a seven-year process in the making.

DL: What's the name of your band?

ES: "Echoes of the Void." We're big 'Star Trek' nerds, and that's a reference back to a Voyager episode. We were all sitting around and my friend was watching it at the house, and he referenced it in the show. And we all looked at each other and said, "Yeah, OK. That's it right there."
