Lobo acts as conduit for anti-Israel propaganda

Editor,

Once again the Daily Lobo ("Speaker will discuss root of conflict in Middle East," Daily Lobo, May 11, 2009) functions as a conduit for anti-Israel propaganda - and on the front page no less. There is no shortage of ethnic and religious conflicts in the world. For example, the Russians have killed large portions of the population of Chechnya since the second war began in 1999. Estimates of Chechen deaths range from 25,000 to 200,000 out of a population of a little more than one million (Bret Stephens, Wall Street Journal, April 21, 2009). This is a far greater insult to humanity than the alleged property damage in your article. I could go on to Kashmir, Cyprus, Sri Lanka, Darfur, Burma, etc. Yet the Daily Lobo chooses to publicize a biased talk, by an unknown activist, promoted by a fringe off-campus group.
