Daily Lobo: Why are you going for your Master's in Business Administration?
Casey Stephens: I actually had a job when I graduated in finance, which is what my degree is in. I had a job as a broker, and that was in December, which was not a good time for the financial industry, so I signed my contract to go to Phoenix, and they had to rescind the offer, because they just couldn't afford to hire people. I came back to Albuquerque, because I'm from here, and now I'm going to grad school.
DL: How was your first semester?
CS: It was good. I worked full-time, so it was a lot of work. I'm going to go back as a full-time student next semester, hopefully.
DL: So the economic crisis has impacted business students as well?
CS: Oh, definitely. I got a degree in finance. When I graduated I had one offer, and I was probably the only finance major who had an offer at my school. I went to school in Flagstaff. So, a lot fewer jobs, but it's okay for me because I'm not really interested in a job in finance. Accounting still has a lot of jobs just because there's always demand - lots of regulations - and there's always a need for people who understand the new regulations. But (the economic crisis) definitely affected finance. I know lots of people who are still looking for jobs. It's been six or seven months, and they don't have a job.

DL: What kind of dog is this?
CS: Oh, who knows. I think it's part pit and part Australian Shepherd. She's a mutt. We got her at the pound, so she could be any number of things.
DL: How long have you had her?
CS: Two years. She's not really social with other dogs, which is kind of weird.
DL: Do you have any hobbies?
CS: Yeah, I just bought a bike, so a lot of bike-riding. I like to read, chill. Summer's my favorite, so I'm always doing stuff like this.
DL: Do you have a favorite author?
CS: I like satires, mostly. I'm not big into science fiction, but I'll read pretty much everything. Sarah Vowell, I don't know if you've heard of her, she's a political satirist and hilarious. Her writing is the funniest writing I've ever read in my entire life. So, that's kind of what I'm into.
