Fashion Q&A

Who's wearing what on campus?

Taylor Johnson, Freshman, Classical Guitar

Bandana: Hot Topic, $3

Shirt: Goodwill, $10

Pants: Goodwill, $10

Shoes: Amazon, $40

"I try not to be in fashion, but at the same time look good."

Tired but true pants with a growing hole in the knee matched with a fading bandana holding up lackadaisical hair complete Taylor's carefree attitude. He shops primarily at Goodwill because he doesn't believe in paying top dollar for fashions he doesn't care for. His indifferent manner results in a well worn look reminiscent of classical rockers of the seventies."

Johnny Heffern, Clerk at Marc's Guitar Center

Hat: Lidz, $30

Sunglasses: UNM Bookstore, $13

Vest: Hot Topic, $30

Shirt: Hot Topic, $10

Pants: Anchor Blue, $15

Shoes: Journeys, $40

"People look at me as a musical expert I guess, and I guess I have to dress the part, but I don't. I dress my personality."

With an emphasis on bright colors such as his green and purple vest, his bright purple shoes, or neon green sunglasses, Johnny showcases his musical interests, such as his band shirt "Four Years Strong," and his own vibrant personality. He completes the look with opaque gauges that match his modern rocker vibe. "

Charlotte Wansa, Senior, Speech Hearing Sciences

Tank Tops: Buffalo Exchange, $7

Pants: Buffalo Exchange, $10

Sandals: Target $13

"I don't really have the time to read the fashion magazines, but a lot of my friends are fashionable so..."

Skinny jeans with patterned tank tops and a vintage necklace give Charlotte's outfit a current vibe with just the right amount of nostalgia for Victorian style jewelry. She favors a Maggie Gyllenhaal style of dress because of the actress' pleasant nature and willingness to dress however she pleases."

Xian Bass, Sophomore, Early Childhood Development

Head Wrap: Borrowed

Earrings: Gift

Shirt: Goodwill, $6

Skirt: Borrowed

"I really like the forties and fifties, the type of couture look, the very subtly sexy but innocent look."

Xian, who models locally, knows what good fashion is. Dressing to reflect the rainy weather, Xian wears a subtle mixture of teal and pink, but she usually sports brighter, more exuberant colors, keeping in touch with her nature as a fire sign. Combined with a striking black umbrella and head wrap, Xian creates a perfectly designed outfit to complement the weather and her fiery personality."
