Singled-out Valentine's activities for couples

Something showy
Give your sweetheart a hip-hopping, heart-stopping good time at the Launchpad on Monday for the comeback tour of Eyedea and Abilities.
The hip-hop group is part of the Rhymesayers Entertainment label and released its latest album, “By the Throat,” in July.
Micheal Larsen, vocalist for the band, said crowds haven’t always been supportive of his music and performing.
“I’ve had people throwing food at me, throwing golf balls at me,” Larsen said. “I’ve had death threats. They say if they see me, they’re going to stab me.”
Larsen said he doesn’t get hung up on those things, because there’s nothing he can do about them.
“It’s kind of beyond relevant to the creative process,” he said. “I think if a person gets wrapped up in that, they’re making art for the wrong reason, anyway. I play in a few different bands, and I share some pretty intimate bonds with the musicians I play with. But in each instance, it’s different. Within each person, there is a different world that is created.”

Something artsy
Back for the eighth time is Warehouse 508’s Breakin’ Hearts. The all-ages event features hip-hop battles, a mixed-media art show and free workshops in activities such as dance, making beats and storytelling.
The workshops include Hip-Hop History, Beats 101, Science of Breakin,’ Emcee, Storytellers, and Aerosol Art. All are from 4-6 p.m. at Warehouse 508. There will also be a live skate demonstration. You can buy tickets in advance at LA Underground, at 2000 Central Ave. SE.
Something romantic
Money’s tight, but love is tighter. So that’s why finding a local Valentine’s Day activity will help you save money and help your local economy — everyone knows that’s sexy. Truth or Consequences has a hot and steamy secret, and it looks out on the Rio Grande River. About two hours south of Albuquerque is Riverbend Hot Springs. It’s a small spa that offers public and private baths along with standard rooms, family rooms, king suites and a deluxe cottage. Prices on lodging vary from $70 to $110 per night. They also offer special deals on weeknight lodging for those who want to take an extra-long holiday. There are three public hot springs ($10 per hour), and three private tubs ($15 per hour).

Something Funny
Maybe the lovey-dovey, schmoozey stuff isn’t for you. Instead, check out comedian Gabriel Iglesias at the Kiva Auditorium on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

For more laughing opportunities, you can see the “Chameleon of Comedy,” by Freddy Charles. Charles will perform on Friday at the Church of Sex and Ice Cream in Rio Rancho.
