Democrats fought hard for education benefits, so vote

Editor,

I’d like to praise reporter Barron Jones for his coverage on the young Democrats rally on Sunday. Everyone in college should exercise their constitutional right to vote and have their voice heard. This year, I hope that everyone at UNM will get to the polls or send in their absentee ballot on or before Nov. 2.

This election is too important for college students to stay home. In the past two years, Democrats have fought to increase Pell Grant awards, making it easier for students to get support to make it through college.

Students can now stay on their parents’ health insurance until they are 26 so that they aren’t kicked off as soon as they’ve graduated.
This is just some of the progress that has been made in the last two years, and this election is a chance to continue to make a difference.
I encourage everyone to get out and vote early. Bring your friends and neighbors, and work to make a difference in the political process.

Ben Ray Lujan
N.M. Congressman, District 3
