Editor,
The situation in Egypt is getting more and more, what’s the politically correct word, “unstable.”
Many people are now saying that it is not a question of if President Hosni Mubarak resigns, but when. The question then naturally follows: What will the new regime look like?
Now I am not here to scare anybody with Israeli ghost stories, but there is a chance that an Islamic government will be installed. Should this possibility scare you, the average American? The short answer is no, because if you truly believe that people should be allowed to chose their own government, then let Egyptians decide for themselves if they want an Islamic government.
I am almost certain that the corporate-owned, Mickey Mouse media in this country will do everything in its power to make you think that an Egypt ruled by Sharia is worse than canceling the Super Bowl.
Please remember that you, the average American, are smart enough to not fall for the media’s lies. Maybe President Mubarak can even leave Egypt in time to catch the Super Bowl in Dallas!
It is nothing short of jaw-dropping to hear U.S. government officials wax philosophical about democracy, human rights and freedom of the press in Egypt. Mubarak has been backed by the U.S. government since day one. It is not as if Mubarak began violating people’s rights in Egypt yesterday.
In fact, the dictatorship, torture and censoring of the press has been financially supported by Uncle Sam since the beginning.
Mubarak could not have made it this far if his sugar daddy Uncle Sam had not been giving him the money to pay Egypt’s security forces. A friendly word of advice for U.S. government officials: If you have nothing good to say, then stay quiet.
