‘But the anger of the Lord shalt be aroused’

Editor’s note: This letter is in response to the religious demonstration outside of UNM’s Center for the Arts on Friday. See “Christians condemn ‘homos’ and ‘whores.’”

Editor,

And as ‘twas written, a man shalt harvest a weed plant from the closet of his single-wide abode, yea, even as ‘twas spaken unto the sons of Nehamiah, when the word of the Lord wast revealed unto them in the Wal-Mart men’s footwear section, amen. And upon the third day, he shalt beseech his cousin, Guillermo, as ‘twas prophesied in days of yore, that he may borrow this man’s Ford Focus, that all may know he hath tithed the fruits of his harvest in a sign of child support unto the Lord, amen.

But the anger of the Lord shalt be aroused unto thee with a fiery arousal, that thine dealer wilt yield not the kind herb, neither wilt thine EBT card purchaseth the Dorito, nor the Oscar Mayer deli ham, neither the grape drink, nor the Cheez Whiz, lest ye turneth thou thineself away from iniquity. Thus spaketh the Lord thy Gawd unto thee, amen.
