Duck and cover, Lobo B-ball will be the bomb

Editor,

Still disappointed the Lobos lost that NCAA game to Harvard?  Will anything be happening at The Pit now? Well, the UNM president and some professors have been brain storming, big time. They just announced UNM can help manage Sandia Labs. Not the old, dreary Sandia Labs with the $2.5 billion annual budget to build secret stuff and bury it around Albuquerque. The new Sandia Lobo-ratory will leverage the best of UNM: basketball.

Sure, the Lobos were hot this season, but just wait.

When The Pit is rebranded as The Plutonium Pit — that’s the core of a nuclear weapon, you know — billions of dollars will come to UNM, and the UNM basketball program will ignite like never before. When visiting teams are thrown a Sandia Lobo-designed basketball, watch out. Explosive action, way noisier games, 3-pointers using real physics.

Of course, not everyone can be on the basketball team or be a coach — 505 are projected — but you won’t be left out. Just take one class in UNM admin proliferation and you’ll become a certified VP-of-something at Sandia. With $2.5 billion a year available, every UNM student will get a job. UNM’s expert managers will cut back on a lot of academic stuff at Sandia, just like they do at UNM right now. The passion and focus will be basketball.

Ha ha, Harvard; you may have won that one game, but the Harvard president just doesn’t think big like we do at UNM.
