The summer semester marches on, and $14 summer movies continue to blockbust (with the exception of “After Earth,” which just bust). But worry not, because even if you spent the last of your couch-cushion quarters on a “had-to-see-it” summer flick, The Weekly Free is here to feed your culture fix while you save up for round two.

Wednesday
Band of Steel Brass

The all-volunteer Albuquerque Concert Band presents its second June concert at the Albuquerque International Balloon Museum. With more than 80 participants from all walks of life, the band’s music is sure to resonate with Earthlings and Kryptonians alike. If you dig free music, make sure you’re at 9201 Balloon Museum Drive N.E. at 7 p.m. Capes welcome.

Wednesday
Love Free or Die

A screening of “Love Free or Die” tells the story of openly gay bishop Gene Robinson, who once believed that his love for God and for his partner, Mark, was irreconcilable. Begin your celebration of Pride this Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the KiMo Theater, 423 Central Ave N.W. Stick around after the showing for an interactive discussion.

Fast & Anonymous

Almost 1 in 5 people living with HIV don’t know they’re infected. Be a part of National HIV Testing Day and get tested. New Mexico AIDS Services is offering free oral and rapid testing to the public Thursday from noon until 6 p.m, at 625 Truman St. N.E. Albertsons is sponsoring the event, so there’s going to be free food and drink.

Saturday
This Isn’t the End

When you finish with PrideFest on Saturday, keep the party rolling at Self Serve’s Pride Party. This outdoor soiree begins at 9 a.m. and will provide food, drink and music by DJ Tiph Hunter. Self Serve will have a tent set up at its location, so bring a lawn chair and some outdoorsy stuff (hats, shades, sunscreen, e.g.) and rock out with your pride out! Self Serve is at 3904B Central Ave. S.E.

Saturday
The Great Susi

“Under the Same Sky” is a storytelling concert featuring professional orator Susi Wolf. Join her in the Elena Gallegos Open Space Ampitheater for an evening of drumming, singing and multicultural folktales. The concert begins at 7 p.m. and runs for about an hour, so make your way up to Tramway north of Academy early to guarantee yourself good seats. Oh, and although the event is free, there’s a $2 parking fee, so be sure to work that into your budget.
