Editor,
In Joe Wagner’s column, printed in Monday’s Daily Lobo, the author’s gratuitous use of the word “one” left me wondering which “one” he was talking about. Also, the author has another troubling, but expected issue: the meaning of redistribution of wealth. Apparently he has grown up in the touch-tone world. Another type of phone existed called the rotary phone, and Morse Code even earlier.
The author has developed an attitude, which will make the Democratic Party very happy, the idea that entitlements grow on trees. And, the idea that these fruits are actually rights afforded every U.S. citizen. I can’t count all the federal, state, and local programs that provide aid money to the poor, because I went to public school. But, the number is over 100. I will only give Obamacare honorable mention.
I will also point out another area the author has little expertise — death. If the death tax or inheritance tax isn’t redistribution of wealth, what is it? This one tax is actually the birth of Halloween. It’s the one time of year the dead are allowed to turn over in their graves, because they had to hand over 40 percent of everything to the government to redistribute to the living, which are in most cases nothing more than liberal zombies.
