I want to thank you for coming out and being part of our win over New Mexico State on Saturday. It was a special night for our football team and our entire university, and to do it in front of a sold-out student section was invaluable. Thanks in large part to the energy and enthusiasm of the student body, the atmosphere around Branch Field at University Stadium was electric. I could tell from the opening kickoff that the crowd would play a huge factor in the game.
When I spoke Thursday night at the Red Rally, I watched the passion on display as we burned the Aggie at Johnson Field. I knew that spirit would carry over to Saturday’s game, and you certainly didn’t disappoint. A special thank-you goes out to Lobo Spirit for coordinating that great event.
I speak to our players often about the “ultimate college football experience.” As we continue to build this program, a big part of that is creating a distinct home-field advantage to ensure that we can win the games in our home stadium. Thanks to your efforts, we are on the right track to making that happen. It’s just like I tell our team, “If we win, there’s enough in it for all of us.”
That goes for every student, former student, faculty member and staff member here at the University of New Mexico.
