Editor,
It would seem as if the Obama administration is trying to expand its military targets in the Middle East. Not too long after stating that the US would be targeting ISIL with airstrikes, President Obama might be adding Syria to the list of possible targets. According to the AP: “The United States would retaliate against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s air defenses if he were to go after American planes launching airstrikes in his country, senior Obama administration officials said Monday .” Since international law recognizes the right of sovereign nations to defend their territory, we must ask ourselves on what basis does the Obama administration seek to justify violating Syrian airspace?
Sincerely,
