Editor,
I strongly agree with Ms. Woods’ assessment of Donald Trump and his comments. He is one of the few politicians speaking what they think and meaning it. I may not agree with everything Mr. Trump has to say, but the fact that he is speaking honestly to the silent majority of people in this great country of ours is more admirable than I have the words to verbalize about.
This country is changing, and not for the better. I think Donald Trump is the only one who can save it, and I’m not alone. My mother has never voted in her life, and is in her late 60s, but just recently she asked me to help her to register to vote for Trump. She couldn’t tell you anything else about him, because she doesn’t need to know anything else. His honesty and directness speaks for itself.
It’s time to stop with the political correctness. It’s time to stop hiding behind fancy words that no one really understands to say things that are very simple. Trump’s message is one that every true American should be able to get behind, or at least comprehend. We’re sick of being lied too, and we’re sick of feeling like this country is being co-opted by people who don’t support values.
People are so scared of this message that they feel the need to twist it into something it’s not. No one thinks that all Mexican illegals are criminals, or that a significant number of them are, but Trump shouldn’t be silenced because he has the guts to say what is truly happening. Mexico is exploiting the good will of the United States, and we need to put an end to it. We don’t do that by giving amnesty to the criminals -- and yes, that’s what they are -- that are already in this country. We do that by enforcing the laws on the books, and closing the borders.
It just boggles my mind that this is something that we need to talk about. Like I said, you don’t need to support everything Mr. Trump has to say, because I certainly don’t. For instance, I’m not sure if it’s a good idea that we should force Mexico to pay for and build the fence. We want this fence to be strong and secure, and if Mexico builds it we can’t guarantee that.
Like Ms. Woods, I too have a diverse background; I consider myself an immigrant, and I’m also a hair stylist. Supporting Donald Trump was not an easy decision for me, but he is the only man I see who can make America great again.
Sincerely,
Neil Cahal
