Holidays can bring a lot of tradition and fun when they come around on the calendar. Halloween usually brings trick-or-treating, parties, haunted houses and of course, scary movies.
Cameron Langner, a senior academic advisor, said she remembers these movies having a lasting impression on her. Although these are her favorites Halloween movies, she said she is done with some of them because they were so scary.
1. “The Watcher in the Woods” directed by John Hough
“Bette Davis’ daughter gets sucked into this world and she’s trying to find someone that can bring her back. This English countryside home has never been filled until this American family moves in. It’s from Disney, but it’s still one of the scariest movies I’ve ever seen. I still have nightmares about when Bette Davis pops out. You know how (movies) have the character that pops up at the most random moments? That’s her character. You jump every time.”
2. “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” directed by Bill Melendez
“It’s narrated by Linus. It’s about him wanting to wait for the Great Pumpkin to visit the pumpkin patch. The Great Pumpkin comes and gives everybody the best pumpkin and everybody has a wonderful Halloween.”
3. “Hocus Pocus” directed by Kenny Ortega
“It’s not scary; it’s just cute. The three sisters (are) funny.I just love Bette Milder; she’s so fun. I like all of Bette Milder’s movies.”
4. “The Nightmare Before Christmas” directed by Henry Selick
“I love Jack. Recently, Archetype Tattoo posted that some couple had come in and got Jack and (Sally) couple tattoos on their arms. That was their Halloween gift to each other this week.”
5. “Child’s Play” directed by Tom Holland
“We all had ‘Cabbage Patch Kids’ dolls. I kid you not, as soon as Chucky came on we all got rid of our dolls – all of us. No, they come alive; they’re going to kill us. Have you seen the commercial they did where people are standing at a bus stop and Chucky bursts out and chases them? It’s like your worst nightmare actually happening.”
