The unfolding tragedy of masses of desperate Middle Eastern refugees turning up on European shores is a tragic calamity to all morally decent people. However, we must understand the cause and effect that has brought this unfortunate event about. The US and some of her European allies have directly or indirectly destabilized governments in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Libya since 2001. It is no coincidence that many of the refugees now coming to Europe are fleeing from these war zones. In other words, the ruling classes of the US and their European sidekicks are seeing their chickens coming home to roost, as Malcolm X liked to say.
A new foreign policy by the West towards the Middle East is necessary. Rather than seeking to overthrow governments, whether they are democratic or authoritarian, let us instead make stability in the Middle East our top priority. In this respect, people who can see through the hocus-pocus of the mainstream media should applaud Russia for its positive role in sending ISIL and al-Qaeda heretics to hell via their effective bombing campaign in support of the Syrian government. The men and women who faithfully serve our country should not be asked to lay down their lives in unnecessary wars for oil or Israel. If the voters in the US and Europe can vote out of office chicken hawk politicians, then I doubt that masses of human beings from the Middle East will end up on the shores of Europe escaping war at home. Since we still have the ability to vote for good people in this part of the world, let us use the ballot to create a win-win situation for people in the West and people in the Middle East.
