Editor,
In the immediate aftermath of all of these mass shootings stateside, have you noticed how family and friends and neighbors of even shooters who are college-age, and especially high schoolers, claim they had absolutely no clue, no idea and are in total shock and surprise that this particular person could commit such a heinous act?
Really? You mean to tell me not one of them could have sensed something was up, like with their son who lived with them? Or is it that at least a few of them knew, but are disavowing because they don’t want to be held liable in any way, or don’t want to get sucked up into the legal procedures, not to mention those who implicitly encouraged the shooter while hanging out with them or went to gun ranges with them, and the latent shooter made some very pointed comments.
Some of this side band of folk around the action could just be lawyering up and been told to shut up before the media, even lie about their knowledge of the shooter’s advance behavior, about certain packages being brought in by that particular neighbor, about whom he brought in.
Therefore getting into the contents of just one phone used by a shooter is only going to reveal so much.
