Editor,
While I am upset that Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Tony Romo is sidelined because of a back injury, I find myself more upset by the fact that the Turkish government has sent its military into Syria. Syrian Foreign Minister, Walid Mu’allem, said, “We condemn the Turkish Army’s clear violation of our sovereignty today and we did not give them or the U.S. Coalition the right to enter our country unannounced.”
While the Turkish government says that they are entering Syria in order to defeat terrorism and capture the city of Jarabulus; this does not negate the fact that they have now violated the territorial sovereignty of another country. The Syrian government has been successfully fighting foreign-backed jihadists with the support of Russia, Iran and Hezbollah. If the Israeli, Turkish, American and Saudi Governments think that they can save these misguided jihadists and initiate regime change in Syria then they should know that WWIII will likely be the price to pay.
We have all heard the incessant calls for regime change in Syria and the demonization of democratically elected president Bashar al Assad. The mainstream media is in reality nothing but a propaganda tool for Wall Street and the military industrial complex. Any future U.S. military action against Syria would be completely unnecessary and lead to further loss of life.
At this point the advocates of world peace must hope that the Turkish government will return to the realm of the sane and cease with it’s dangerous provocations inside Syria. Yes, it would be upsetting if Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has to sit out the entire season due to a back injury; but a WWIII over Syria would be much, much worse.
