Softball: Lobos travel to take on San Jose State

The University of New Mexico softball team will travel to take on the San Jose State Spartans this weekend in a three-game series that begins on Friday night.

The Lobos are coming off a series loss to Utah State at home last weekend, as well as a midweek loss on Wednesday night to No. 10 Arizona, 3-1.

The Spartans come into the weekend with a 27-15 (11-6 MW) record and are coming off a series victory on the road at Colorado State last weekend. SJSU is currently sitting third in the conference.

Offensively, the Spartans are lead by Cassidy Clark, who is hitting .394/.471/.538 with 25 RBI. Caroline Bowman leads the SJSU pitching staff with a 13-2 record and a 3.24 ERA in 27 appearances, 15 starts. Madison Aurin, is the innings leader for the Spartans in addition to being third on the team in batting average. She has a 3.25 ERA and a 12-11 record in 31 appearances, 22 starts.

As they have all season, the Lobos will rely on Jensen Main to put in a strong outing in the circle. In her start Wednesday against Arizona, Main allowed three runs, only one of which was earned, as she held the No. 10 Wildcats to just four hits in six innings.

The series begins Friday afternoon at 1 p.m. MT, with the final two games to follow at the same time on Saturday and Sunday.
