Softball: Lobos travel to Utah for series with Utah State

The University of New Mexico softball team (10-26, 1-8 Mountain West) will look to snap a five game losing streak this weekend as the team travels to Logan, Utah for a three game set with the Utah State Aggies.

The Aggies (11-18, 2-6 Mountain West) are riding a four game skid after being swept by Colorado State in Fort Collins last weekend and losing to Idaho State in a midweek non-conference matchup. The Aggies pitching staff has struggled this season, similar to the Lobos, recording a 6.24 earned run average. Delaney Hull has started the majority of the games for USU and holds a 7-6 record to go along with a 5.81 ERA. USU has only used three pitchers this season, with the other two, Kapri Toone and Chloe Nightingale, each having ERAs over 6.51.

The offensive leader for the Aggies is Lexi Orozco, who is hitting .357/.396/.679 with 26 runs batted in and seven home runs.

UNM will be looking to bounce back from a midweek series that saw the Lobos swept by New Mexico State in Las Cruces with 8-0 and 11-3 losses. The Lobos are riding an eight-game conference losing streak that dates back to the team's win over San Diego State in the conference opener on March 15.

The games can be seen on the Mountain West Network, which can be accessed via golobos.com, with Friday and Saturday's contests beginning at 4 p.m. before a noon start in Sunday's series finale.
