Don’t be fooled by the baseball team’s 18-18 record — the Lobos are better than they seem.
Despite keeping the Sun Devils from rounding the bases for six innings, the baseball team still lost to Arizona State University 3-1 at Isotopes Park on Tuesday.
It was a weekend of firsts for the baseball team.
The baseball team is on a hot streak, and one of its underclassmen players fuels the Lobos’ fire: DJ Peterson.
The baseball team held the No. 16 Oklahoma Sooners to only five runs on Sunday at Isotopes Park, but it didn’t score any itself. After losing the first two games in the series to the Sooners during the weekend, 7-6 and 10-5, UNM lost its third game 4-0, losing its third straight series to go to 2-8 on the season.
Ray Birmingham certainly has no problem letting his players “have it.”
The women’s track team may not have won the MWC indoor championship this weekend, but it ran away with the best finish and highest point total at an indoor championship in school history.
The Lobos will attempt to take down an entire wolf pack in a three-game dogfight this weekend at Isotopes Park.
