Exhibit fuses science with art

An exhibition at the University Art Museum is giving scientists the opportunity to display their art. "This is all about people from fields that are traditionally at opposite poles, but they intersect around observation," said Sara Otto-Diniz, curator of "Art and Science/Observation and Imagination."

Pianist finds home performing at UNM

For UNM graduate student and pianist Makiko Kimura, the past year has been a disaster and a success. Kimura transferred to UNM from Loyola University in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. She is a winner of the UNM 2006 Music Department Concerto Competition. Tonight, she will perform with the UNM Orchestra in its first concert of the season.

Ludacris Release Therapy Available Now Apparently, haircuts are the newest trend in hip-hop. Following Busta Rhymes, who hacked off his dreadlocks to promote his latest release, Ludacris has done away with his cornrows and, apparently, taken on a more mature image. Granted, this isn't a Talib Kweli ...

Putting on the paint

Column: Wu-Tang members resurface

It's hard to explain the Wu-Tang Clan. Nine African-Americans obsessed with Chinese culture, Italian mafia lore and the blaxploitation films of the '70s don't exactly scream mainstream acceptance.

Column: Bakery serves up French fare with an American flair

Before I went to Le French Corner, I expected deliciousness. I wasn't prepared for what I encountered. I have tried many so-called French restaurants, but nothing compares to the savory and sweet dishes this little bakery had. This little find specializes in French fare with an American twist, yet it stays true to French cuisine.

Second 'Jackass' a misanthropic mess

I think my IQ just dropped a few points. "Jackass Number Two" is a bit like a train wreck. No one wants to see it, but sometimes it's impossible to look away. Much like its predecessor, the film is exceptional only for its inexplicable ability to fill movie seats.

Pez players put on a show

Steve White looks at a Pez dispenser and sees more than a cartoon character made of plastic. He sees Jesus in Wonder Woman. He sees the devil in Batman. And he sees Elvis in Happy Ghost.

Hispanic art exhibit shows student talent

Artist Negwes White doesn't just draw a picture, he creates a message. "A big thing of mine is the trail of tears," White said. "Not much has changed. The same roots that were broken are still broken to this day. They are still not acknowledged. Even though it is written in paper and it is signed, that doesn't mean anything. We could just rip the Declaration of Independence in half."
